THE FAMILY BEHIND POWER PALS
Small habits. A lasting legacy.
Inspired by our own family. Created to help yours build better battery habits, together.
Our story
Two boys. Plenty of toys. One recurring frustration.
Hi, we’re Oliver and Piyumali, parents of two boys and the people behind Power Pals.
We both come from IT and management consulting, where the job was making messy, complicated things simple. Then we had kids, and our house filled up with remotes, controllers, torches and toys that all ran on AA batteries.
Soon we were buying packs we didn’t need, testing batteries one by one to find which still had power, and wondering where to put the dead ones. For two people who spend their working lives fixing systems, it was a bit embarrassing that the battery drawer beat us.
So we started asking a simple question: what if the family could charge, check and store batteries in one place, and the boys could help?
That question became Power Pals. It’s a kit built around a simple habit: check before you replace, recharge instead of throwing away, and put everything back where it belongs. Our boys are the reason it’s playful and the reason it has to be safe. The equipment is being tested and will be labelled to meet applicable Australian and New Zealand requirements before it ships.
We’re based in Wellington, New Zealand, and we’re launching in New Zealand and Australia in late November 2026.

What we stand for
The things that matter to us, at home and in everything we create.
The habits we pass on matter.
For us, legacy begins with everyday things: how we care for what we own, what we reuse, and what our children learn by watching us.
A little more
You work hard for your family.
We respect the effort behind every household purchase. That’s why we believe in making better use of what we already have.
A little more
Small lessons. Everyday opportunities.
Check before replacing. Learn what can be recharged. Put the tools back where they belong.
A little more
A little task. A moment together.
Even sorting out a toy can become a chance to connect, solve a small problem together, and get back to the fun.
