Single-use shouldn’t
mean straight to landfill.

Disposable batteries power a moment, then need somewhere to go. Batteries contain materials that can be recovered through recycling. They can also cause fires when damaged in rubbish or recycling collections. Keep all batteries out of your household rubbish and kerbside recycling bins.

A little prep. A better drop-off.

  1. Check the battery.

Read the label: single-use or rechargeable? Never try to recharge a disposable battery. Rechargeable batteries need recycling too when they reach the end of their useful life.

  2. Tape the ends.

For intact household batteries, cover the terminals with clear sticky tape before drop-off. Keep batteries out of children’s reach and follow your collection point’s preparation instructions.

  3. Make the drop.

Check that your chosen location accepts your battery type, then drop them off on your next trip out. A small habit that helps keep batteries out of the bin.

Damaged, swollen or leaking battery? Don’t put it in a standard collection bin. Contact your local council or recycling provider for advice on safe handling and disposal.

Fewer single-use batteries.
More repeat adventures.

Where your device is suitable for rechargeables, you can use the same batteries again and again. That’s the habit we’re helping families build at Power Pals: recharge, reuse, and recycle responsibly when it’s time.
